My guess is that FrameMaker is nearing its EOL, and that InDesign will
eventually totally replace it. Those FrameMaker areas/functions that
InDesign couldn't do are disappearing fast as InDesign CSx gets further
and further developed. And the cost differential between FrameMaker and
InDesign is minimal.

Furthermore, if the relatively low cost for either FM or ID (or
whatever) matters, get a legal copy via eBay or elsewhere.

As for me, I'd use whatever works best or easiest of all the packages I
generally use: OpenOffice v. 3, Office Pro 2007, FrameMaker, or
InDesign, among others. Somehow, I cannot see wasting much time and
effort arguing that point.

Being an FAA-rated A&P mechanic, I and other mechanics amass and use
various tools. We would rarely waste time debating the value of one over
the other. Just use the proper/best tool for the particular function.
