Surviving job hunting (was: Hiring, but it's a secret?)

Deborah Hemstreet <dvora -at- tech-challenged -dot- com> said, "It seems to me that finding a job these days is more based on skill in getting through the recruiting process rather than a person's actual capabilities."

It does seem that the skills necessary to get through the mess of obtaining a job are not remotely the same as  (and, at times, in opposition to) those required to be really good at that job.

Sadly, no one has come up with a job matching algorithm akin to those dating algorithms.... the ones that set you up with your ideal match based upon values, goals, personality, etc. (Do those even work? LOL)

First one who accomplishes such a thing, though, will be megarich.
