As Will mentioned, you have to be careful about checking multiple files in and out consistently, but the RoboHelp interface prompts you to do so. Such workflow policies are essential, especially in multi-author environments. However, RoboHelp and VSS seem to work together quite nicely if you uphold such policies.

Very infrequently I've seen RoboHelp get out of sync with VSS. However, I think regenerating the CPD file locally and then pulling down the latest files (memory is fuzzy here) fixed the issue.
