Actually, the federal government considers over-40s a "protected class"
-- like women, blacks, Hispanics, the disabled, etc. -- against whom
it's illegal to discriminate.
If you're a paraplegic Hispanic female in her 50s, the feds will fall
all over themselves to prevent employers from discriminating against
you. Which is nice, I suppose, if you're eager to work with people who
disparage women, minorities, cripples, and mature, experienced
workers...
