Minimum wage in CA is $8.00, so I'd be going in the hole if I were to take a
job for $5.00 an hour. That time can be better served findind REAL work.
I've experienced FAR too much to this nonsense in the 20 years I've played
in the technical arena. Judging from the responses you got to your $250 bid
(which was low), I recommend laughing it off and RUNNING away from such
projects as quickly as you can. Even if did get the bid, I can tell you with
reasonable certainty that this would be the project that gobbles up ALL of
your time. The client will never let on that you're going terrific work and,
instead, will keep heaping more and more items into the mix that need to be
dealt with before you ever get paid.
Like I said, RUN!
