My 88-year-old mom has just learned how to receive (and sometimes send) email and how to use the Internet. I am so proud of her! The other day, completely on her own, she heard about a store on TV. She found its Web site, located the nearest location, mapped it, and used the map to drive there.
I live in a different state so I can't help her as much as I want, but I'm working over the phone trying to help her understand exactly what was mentioned earlier: that Microsoft is the name of a company that makes programs: that there are many email programs, one of which is Microsoft Outlook Express; that there are several Web browsers, one of which Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.
