The whole private reply/public post thing is tricky. Sometimes, clicking
Reply opens by default a private reply only to the poster. Other times,
clicking Reply opens a public reply to the whole list. I don't know if
this is because of my own Outlook setup or some other reason.
Either way, I've made both mistakes in the past -- replying privately to
someone's public post, and vice versa. And in both cases, I've sometimes
had to apologize for offense taken.
