I disagree. People are also used to clicking Start to begin the process
of shutting down their computers. Besides, my grandma says that button
and icon graphics make user's guides easier to use.

I don't think that's true. Pretty much all GUI help these days just
says "click <Button Label>". People are used to it and don't seem to
have trouble finding the buttons.
