I grew up on a farm, where I was exposed to everything from building barns
and fixing tractors to saddling horses and tending gardens. My Dad also
dabbled in television/radio repair (pre-transistor) and Mom signed us up to
the Science Fiction Book Club (a Book-of-the-Month Club spin-off for young
geeks) because my older brother and I had read nearly all of the books on
the Bookmobile. (It was either that or we'd start asking to watching
something on TV other than Lawrence Welk.)
Little did I know that much of what I learned back then would help me today
as I document wafer processing systems (hardware and software). Having some
old Journey tunes blasting out of the home theater while I "create" also
helps.
