Can you get hold of some of that "finished" documentation?
You could edit some of the worst passages and use that as
an approach for a contract position... moonlighting if you
are already in a new job.
You'd be in the best position, having recent, intimate
familiarity with the company and its products... unless
they've got some silly rules against contracting with
[recent] ex-employees. Of course, you could get around
that by forming a corporation to do the contracting.
