I have two really lucrative contracts, one as a result of elance and the
other from guru. You do have to go through a lot of "write a gabillion
words for a buck" projects, but there are plenty of excellent ones out
there. Pay attention to the icons around the customer's name/contact
information, elance is pretty good about listing ones whose payment info has
not been verified.
One nice thing about guru, you can save your proposal templates, and just
select one when you're bidding a job. I tend to have both sites open, so I
can copy and paste from guru to elance.
Any good proposal will do the following:
Demonstrate your understanding of the prospect's need or problem
Describe your abilities to solve that problem or meet that need
Tell them why you?re the one that offers the best proposal and what benefits
they gain from engaging you
Offer to answer questions, provide links/samples, etc.
Thank them for considering the proposal.
