I just realized that I was replying to a TechWr-l post, not one on FrameUsers. For the benefit of the poor lost souls who don't know FrameMaker, its "templates" aren't anything like Word templates -- they're simply "masters" from which a doc is created. A template is not a special kind of file, like it is in Word. And a doc, once created, has no linkage to the template on which it's based.
