It's been a long time since I worked anywhere that people didn't know what a
tech writer is.
Outside of the workplace, I respond to the question of what a tech writer is
by saying, "We're the people who write all those instruction manuals you
don't read before you take something you've bought back to the store because
it's too hard to use."
