Hi All,
Well this turned out to not be specific to Word 2007, just the tool I'm
using.
Since we are using a column layout, and each column must end on the same
line, I've solved my justification problem as follows:
1. Manual hyphenation only.
2. Using column breaks to even up the columns, with judicious use of
additional/less pixels at the end of preceding paragraphs.
One thing I"ve noticed, trying to add/remove pixels before a paragraph
does not seem to change anything, only if I do so below the paragraph.
Don't know why. Anyway, the Editor-in-Chief for the journal is very
pleased with what he is seeing so I guess I'm on the right track.
Once I get into the work, they are open to me evaluating other tools for
designing the journal. Am not sure yet.. (though the more I work with
Word 2007 the more I am back to where I was over 15 years ago (I HATE
WORD!)). Back then a kind lady spent an hour teaching me about field
codes and I gained a deeper appreciation for Word's potential... now I'm
back to square one.
