The text "160-0008-02, H0110" appears regardless of what I typed or what
was previously in the cell. I'm thinking gremlins.

My guess is that your error is related to Microsoft's insistence on
being "helpful" by providing various functions that work with undo and
clipboard data history.

Check or fiddle with your undo settings in the registry and your
clipboard data storage settings.
