Subject:RE: Opinions on Other In Box? From:"McLauchlan, Kevin" <Kevin -dot- McLauchlan -at- safenet-inc -dot- com> To:Bill Swallow <techcommdood -at- gmail -dot- com>, Craig Cardimon <craig -dot- cardimon -at- gmail -dot- com> Date:Wed, 25 Jan 2012 10:35:58 -0500
In my Gmail, I also get lots of e-mails, and I've got several
filters set, but while they seem to get applied to incoming messages,
they don't trigger an action. I still have to check-check-check...
and then "move checked to 'techwrl'" or wherever.
That is, I can look at a message that's been hidden from my
inbox to the "techwrl" filter, and it has "techwrl" applied
to it, and that makes sense... but I can look at my crowded
inbox and see 55 new messages with the "techwrl" flag, but
they did not automatically get segregated. I still have to
do the manual shunting, dammit! (Yes, I know that the mail
is all still in one huge folder, but the relevant effect of
a filter should be to make filtered messages visible only
when that filter is viewed, not when the main inbox is viewed.)
Possibly there's some additional config I must activate, and
have so far overlooked, but I really miss the automated
handling I get with Outlook.
