This is slightly OT, and I don't remember when in the last 25-30 years people started dropping the possessive apostrophe (and I'm sure this has been knocked around before on this list), but strictly speaking, these phrases don't make sense to me without it -- these being the "correct" versions, in my mind:
"Two months' free service"
"6 months' employment"
That is all.
