Hello, TechWR-L-ers,

Any advice for syncing my long-maintained, local (non-Exchange server) Outlook 2007 calendar on my Win 7 PC to a clientâs Google calendar so that all they see for any meetings that arenât theirs are just blocks of time labeled âBusyâ? In particular, any gotchas, best practices, or stories of delight or horror?

Background:

Again at a new client, they use Googleâs calendar. But Iâve got my own Outlook calendar that I really donât want to quit using because Iâve got just all sorts of reminders and various client meetings and a long history with it thatâs easy to search.

In the past, Iâve thought of syncing my Outlook calendar to a particular clientâs Google calendar so that they can easily tell when Iâm available for meetings without me having to manually enter all my other client meetings and personal time. But Iâd been warned off of doing so by people who said that it didnât work well and maybe didnât even always properly label things as private.

I certainly donât want Client-1 seeing anything more than âbusyâ for meetings that I have scheduled with Client-2! Itâs not a secret who my clients are â I put it right on my website & LinkedIn profile â but still thatâs not the same as visibility into just how many meetings I have with other clients, and with who.

Thanks much,
-Monique
