I got a new MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 just a few months ago. It still has the 6 key on the left. I've been using MS ergonomic keyboards for years, and I'm fine with that. IIRC, it took very little time to get used to it.

Face it, the 6 key is a bit of a stretch for most people regardless of which forefinger you use. I think using the left hand for it actually makes more sense. There are 12 keys between ` and Backspace -- why wouldn't you divide them 6 to the left and 6 to the right?
