If you want benefits, then you need to be a full time employee. If you are a contractor, all benefits are at your own expense. It's the rare opportunity that is going to provide medical/dental, unless, as others have pointed out, you work "full-time" for an agency that provides these benefits.

That is why contractors typically demand a higher rate -- the wage needs to cover ALL their expenses.

I am like most people, I want to work. I want to work and make decent money and get medical/dental. I need to stay local because of gas prices and long times on the freeways is not helpful. But, in today's marked I am trying to cope with these new changes. At least new for me.
