This is a book I have been reading recently(http://www.packtpub.com/python-2-6-text-processing-beginners-guide/book). It is a good book about how to use Python to manipulate textual data. I recommend you to have a read of it.  Besides, any one of you adapting computer programming language for your technical writing effort(pdfcreation, data extraction)?
