Anyone have a decent document checklist they'd like to share -- something you use when you review a technical document (say a reference or user
manual) just before you publish it?

If you are going to have a book printed professionally, it'll have a cover on it. Check the cover art to make sure the copy on the spine matches the copy on the front, and that it's actually for the book you are having printed.

After it's printed, you'll receive a box of one or two dozen finished books. Check to see that the covers on the books belong to the printed content inside them. "Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat." (Bullwinkle pulls out a reference manual for a Prime Computer product, but the cover is for a Digital Equipment product.) Yes, it happened. The printing company presumably ate the entire cost for reprinting the covers and contents for both companies' books.
