While the original article fell under "TL; DR", Fred's query made me check
what Google had to say. For the specific spelling of "thatistoscopic", only
six results appear, seemingly referencing the same source.

Then Google offers "tachistoscopic" as a spelling variation
http://www.google.ca/search?client=safari&hl=en&nfpr=1&biw=320&bih=417&q=tachistoscopic<https://www.google.ca/search?client=safari&hl=en&nfpr=1&biw=320&bih=417&q=tachistoscopic&spell=1&sa=X&ei=dIppUoDpNYrwiwLv7ICgAw&ved=0CCcQBSgA>

While most of the results are also of the TL; DR variety, some of the
entries may help with the meaning.
