Re: geo-fence or geofence or geo fence?
Looking at the Google results, it seems like "geofence" is more common
among big players in the map and GPS markets.
I would not use "geo fence" since "geo" is not a word.
Google might take issue with that statement. Google Geo is not exactly new and there are quite a few Google Geo products.

In discussing geofences, it is probably best to use Google's style since this is a Google widget.

Regarding whether to use a hyphen, never use a hyphen for code or terms used in code.
