I try to resist the urge. My earliest editing work was correcting the service manual for my MG while working on it during my college years. It came so naturally!
Now I find it more enjoyable to focus on taking the SME’s explanation and putting that into words. Editing lacks the experience of discovery and explanation. That, to me, is what is so enjoyable about the technical writing experience.
