With regards to the membership of STC, I was a member for a year, but did
not really feel included as a European based member.
When it was time to renew my membership, I communicated with the STC
administration for a while, asking whether there were any plans on
activities in Europe, or e.g. a salary survey for other countries than the
USA. I offered to volunteer it it would be something the STC would support.
There were no such plans, so I instead asked if they have thought of ways
to encourage members form other continents to come to the STC Summit, for
instance give discounts (I have seen it done in other fields with great
success). I was told that the dollar was so low that it would be easy for
"you" (as in Europeans) to come. I was put off by this "us" and "you" from
an organisation that claims to be international.
I may reconsider if I move across the Atlantic.
