I think the terms "twisties" and "twirly-things" are childish. "Rotating triangle" is an inaccurate description. In the CSS or jQuery that controls the action, the element is referred to as a collapsible header.

From a UI view, you are looking at a bullet. So, logically, the icon for
the collapsible bullet (the triangle but it can be any image, I used hearts on one website) should be called a "collapsible bullet." The term for the collapsible heading should be "collapsible heading."
