When my 2010 vintage MacBook goes to its reward, I donât think Iâll be able/willing to replace it with another MacBook. Iâve upgraded the memory and added a solid-state disk, and it runs like a champ; even after 6 years, it does everything I need.
Unfortunately, the newest ones appear to be impossible to upgrade yourself (Iâd really like to be proven wrong on that point), and the upgradable ones are several years behind in terms of processors.
Iâve never had a laptop that I couldnât upgrade as it aged, so without that capability, I will need to find a non-Apple laptop that will support Linux well.
That said, I really like the keyboard and overall physical design of my MacBook, and would like to keep it forever, just swapping out components as they age:-).
