Really?

Yes, it is really terrible advice. The first contender for why this is bad advice comes from the ever controversial serial comma. Journalism style guides say to omit the serial comma. Technical writers disagree about whether to use a serial comma. Businesses have been sued for multiple millions of dollars and pounds for not using a serial comma.

There is NO way a technical *writer* can "ensure" anything about contracts and legal documentation in planning for an audit request, except as a documentation assistant who runs through a checklist to make sure necessary documents have been included in a file. A legal professional (lawyer, paralegal, legal secretary, etc.) will still need to validate that the documents comply with legal requirements.

"Overly optimistic"? More like writer god-mode. This will never be.
