TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
One other thing about correct usage of all of it. I am president of our local chapter of STC and I'm a part-time teacher in a technical writing program at our local university. So I have to be careful in the way I write to a lot of different audiences. I know a fair amount of you are contractors, as am I. I think that at the end of the day, we need to consider who our audiences are when we write anything. This audience is made up of other technical communicators who are judging our personalities, our communication skills, and the things that we respond to. At some point, they may also have influence in whether we are hired for a contract or other role. It's always a good idea to take that into consideration when we reply to threads like this.
It's something to consider.

Subject: Re: trademarks - not optional
True Monique, if I am a tech writer and writing professional company documentation, I have to do the right thing with trademarks in an official publication.
But I couldn't care less about these trademarks in my personal communications. Like in techwr-l posts. Take that linkedin techsmith indesign github ...
