This does not answer your question, but it may be of some help. You might
be able to use the tool below to alter a pdf you've made.

I use an old version of this free software:
https://www.tracker-software.com/version/pdf-xchange-viewer to do things to
PDFs all the time.

The reason I use the old version is because they have pulled all the good
editing content out of newer versions, to force you to buy "Pro".

In spite of being called a viewer, it does allow a fair bit of editing and
whatnot.
