Bob,
I don't think you'll find FrameMaker files as easy to
manipulate or transfer for use by some other program. Here's
a few lines to show you why:
^Af^H^D`^F`^DN=pages in length, and is divided into the
following sections:
^At^H^D`^Fa^DN: ^A
c^A^H^D^B`^Fb^DN^]^H* Chapter 1--Network Basics
F^A^H^D^B`^Fc^DNC.^^^H* Chapter 2--Electronic Mail
Other lines are sprinkled with undisplayable characters.
FrameMaker provides some basic Hypertext abilities, but FrameBuilder
is the Frame answer if you want to creat online documents. Electronic
documentation is a different matter. You might want to discuss that
with someone familiar with Northern Telecom's Compass software or
AT&T's similar product whose name I can't remember.
At NEC America, Inc. we use FrameMaker with X Windows and Motif on
Sun Workstations. To date, we haven't used FrameMaker on the
MacIntosh or with Windows on a PC.
Irene says she will post a compilation of responses. I sent a
long one to her. I'll let her pass on the relevant portions, if
any.
BEST REGARDS!
Chuck Banks
