meeting. The registration covers a variety of unlimited appetizers which
are described under the Selections heading below.

Social Time 6-8: Look at demonstrations, read predictions and
cast you votes, mingle and enjoy yourselves.
Keynote Address: 8-8:30, Saul Carliner

Selections: Variety of appetizers including mini-quiches, vegetables & dip,
arum sandwiches, chicken wings, beef & cheese tray, stuffed
mushrooms, egg rolls, and cheese and crackers. Coffee, tea
and cookies also provided.

Checks: $17.00 members and non-members, friends and relatives

Theme: STC members bring a NON-MEMBER friend, and each receives a
$2 discount on the reservations. Send reservations in one
envelope, and indicate your name, your STC number, and your

SPEAKER
========

Saul Carliner specializes in marketing communications strategies, and online
information and multimedia development. He co-edited the award-winning
"Techniques for Technical Communicators" (Macmillan, 1993). He has taught
workshops at Solutions, Inc, STC, Rensallear Polytechnic Institute, NSPI,
University of Ottawa, and has a class offered by the University of California
Santa Cruz Extension. A seat in this class is being awarded as the prize
for the best prediction of the future of technical communication competition.

Mr. Carliner holds a master's degree in technical communication from the
University of Minnesota; a bachelor's degree in economics, professional
writing, and public policy from Carnegie Mellon; and is completing a PhD
in instructional technology at Georgia State University.

Coming from San Francisco:

Take 280 south. Take the Edgewood exit. Take a right at the
stop sign. Go to the next stop sign, and turn left onto
Canada road. Go approximately 2 miles, and turn left onto
Jefferson at the stop sign. Continue on Jefferson approximately
1/2 mile to Wilmington. Turn right. Follow signs to Emerald
Hills Country Club. Will be on your right.

Coming from San Jose:

Take 280 north. Take the Canada Road exit and turn left.
Go to the next stop sign and turn left onto Canada. Go
approximately 2 miles, and turn left onto Jefferson at the
stop sign. Continue on Jefferson approximately 1/2 mile
to Wilmington. Turn right. Follow signs to Emerald Hills
Country Club. Will be on your right.

Coming from East Bay:

Take 92 west to 280 south. Take the Edgewood exit. Take
