Seriously, I can only see one of two immediate options:

Have your software/firmware people work with human interface
engineers to make their code more straightforward

or

Directly contact some of your customers and ask them how
they would have preferred that you had presented it. Customer
feedback is always a good part of the quality improvement cycle.
