Howard Rheingold to Speak at STC Banquet

Author Howard Rheingold will speak at the Society for Technical
Communication (STC) Awards Banquet, February 12, 1994, at the
Claremont Resort in the Oakland hills. The Awards Banquet is an
elegant celebration recognizing the winners of the 1993 Northern
California Technical Publications Competition, Visions of the Scribe,
conducted this year by the Berkeley Chapter of STC. Both hardcopy
and on-line Competition winners will be on display. (Rooms at reduced
rates are available at the Claremont to those attending the banquet.
Call the hotel direct).

Howard Rheingold's 1991 best seller, Virtual Reality, is followed by the
recent release of The Virtual Community, which has been well received
by the critical press. Autographed copies of this book will be available
for sale at discount with a portion of the proceeds to benefit STC.

Interviewed in Forbes, Newsweek, The New York Times, S.F. Chronicle, on
public television, and National Public Radio, Rheingold is regularly
quoted in the computer and industry trade press and is the editor of
the Bay-Area based, Whole Earth Review.

To purchase tickets or for more information, call the STC hotline at
510/466-5464. STC is a non-profit international organization devoted to
the professional growth of technical writers, editors, and graphics artists.
A portion of the proceeds from the annual Competition is donated to an
STC scholarship fund for Northern California students of technical
communication, The Dr. Kenneth M. Gordon Memorial Scholarship.
