Tammy:
I couldn't agree with you more. Remember that time a few months back when
I was seeking out black technical writers? Remember how I was treated? All
I wanted was to find out if there were any out there and if so what exactly
they did as technical writers. Then I get flamed fro asking the question
by someone whom claimed that I was being racist for asking such a question.
"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" is a great
quote.
To all of you out there, yes, we are are writers, but humans FIRST. We have
learned the art of writing to a degree that many never achieve in their
lifetime. We come together on this listserv to voice our ideas, views,
and comical anecdotes. The active word here is TOGETHER. If we didn't come
TOGETHER, we wouldn't have a listserv now would we?
Yes, we have to remember to dot the "i's" and cross the "t's" but at times
we just don't have time to do that sort of thing. If this event was as bad
as everyoe claims it is, the culprits should feel very ashamed. I feel
ashamed for you.
We have a responsibility. That is to COMMUNICATE. Most of us act as the
link between the product user and the product producer. We have that respons-
ibility to maintain and uphold.
There is a saying that I live by that was taught to me in the Army: "Mission
first, PEOPLE always." Think about it.
