Call for Proposals

1995 College Composition and Communication Conference, Washington, DC

**** Attention Graduate Students ****

The Association of Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW) was formed in 1973 to
encourage dialogue among teachers of technical communication as an academic
discipline. ATTW has over 1,000 members and now includes both graduate and
undergraduate students of technical communications as well as professional
technical communicators in business and industry.

One of ATTWUs goals is to promote opportunities for graduate students
specializing in technical and professional writing to participate more fully in
CCCC panels, and to network more extensively with professional writing
specialists from other institutions. We therefore plan to propose one or two
special panels for the 1995 CCCCs that would consist entirely of graduate
students specializing in technical and professional writing. If you are a
graduate student interested in becoming part of this type of CCCCs panel, send
one or more proposals on any topic (each one preferably no more than two
paragraphs) so that they arrive at the following address no later than March 31,
1994:

Rachel Spilka
5250 North Park Avenue
Indianapolis, IN 46220

Once received, the proposals will be reviewed by the three ATTW members at
large: Sam Dragga, Scott Sanders, and Rachel Spilka. Once this committee
selects panel participants they will notify everyone who submitted proposals of
their decision by mid April. This schedule will ensure that those students not
selected for the ATTW-sponsored panels will have sufficient opportunity to
submit their own proposals directly to CCCCs by its late April deadline. If you
have questions, contact Rachel Spilka at (317) 924-9724.

COMMUNICATION QUARTERLY, contact Billie J. Wahlstrom, Co-editor, TCQ, 201
