Given problems that other people have explaining what their
jobs are like, I have never complained about tech writing.
My best friend's fianc?e is a high school Home Economics
teacher. One evening she had us in stitches as she related
situations at parties where hostesses would panic when they
discovered her occupation. Evidently people would ask her
opinion on everything to do with their anxiety over the
party, find out if she knew how to remove ________ stains
and generally ask hundreds of Miss Manners type questions.
Although she didn't like the stilted and unwarranted
attention, she was glad that she wasn't a psychiatrist like
her father. He didn't go to parties anymore.
