The STC and its chapters are in the midst of a couple of
Internet trials that go beyond merely getting HQ onto
e-mail: one in Boston and another in Northern California.
I think both will be online fairly soon. The NorCal one,
at least, will offer a Web interface.

(To digress a moment: There's much discussion of what the STC
should do, support, endorse, watch, or stay out of as it gets
more heavily involved in the Internet. Members who would like
to do some committee work in this area, or merely to provide
input, are invited to contact me.)

There are also several independently produced Web pages of
interest to technical communicators.

There are others, including one put up by our own listowner Eric Ray,
but the paper storm in my office hasn't blown the appropriate URLs
past my desk lately. Meanwhile, you and other Websters might be
interested in this, which was passed to me on e-mail:

>Can't find something on the Web? Try
http://akebono.stanford.edu/yahoo
>for a hierarchical hotlist with 21300+ entries.
>And then there's Carnegie Mellon's list of 500,000+ URLs at
>http://fuzine.mt.cs.cmu.edu/mim/lycos-all.html

Finally, I'd like to offer a friendly reminder that almost every
product and service provided by the STC comes directly or indirectly
from a member in some chapter or other who volunteered. Good things
come from -- and go to -- those who join and help!

Cheers,
--Joe
