Salaries are highly variable these days, with such
factors as geographical location, your previous experience,
and technical sophistication being most significant. I know
that salaries were higher in general when I was working in
Silicon Valley than they are here in Texas. And I have seen
new graduates being paid very different amounts based on their
level of technical sophistication. So don't be surprised if
your first job after graduation does not pay as much as you'd
hoped. But the odds are good that, once you've built up
some experience, you'll command more money from subsequent
employers.
