According to the Erisian Manual of Style, "a.m." indicates standard
time, and "A.M." indicates that daylight savings time is in use.
Conversly, "P.M." is used during full and new lunar cycles, "p.m."
during all other phases. The stated rationale is that the larger
sources of light (during daylight savings and full moons) cast longer
shadows on the page so capital letters are needed to ensure
readability.
