TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I live in the mountains of New Mexico (east of Taos, if you know the area).
I don't know of any other tech writers here in Eagle Nest. This list is for
me, therefore, a good place to discuss technical writing topics. I never
saw a need to join the STC before, but since it has been mentioned here
frequently recently I have a few questions:
1) Is it a good idea to join? Why or why not?
2) How much does it cost and how do I do it?
3) What else should I know?
