I agree completely with William McCrary's post, especially
regarding the assumption that most user manuals do not work.
While many user manuals may not be perfect, it seems self-evident
to me that most of them work quite well. Just look at the list's
recent lengthy discussion over third-party manuals. And if so many
manuals failed to accomplish their tasks, why are there so many
of them?
The quest for improvement, as evidenced by the continuous and
intense discussions on this list, should not be mistaken for
condemnation.
