I dunno. When used with the word "platform," I agree with you:
"on" would be the correct choice.

Unfortunately, your example is really a mixed batch of fruit:
UNIX is an operating system, Mac is hardware, and Windows is an
environment. Oranges, apples, and bananas I think.

When I hear the word "platform," I think hardware.
