I prefer your editor's format. You can replace "done the following things"
with "performed the following actions[or steps]."

I'd also change the verbs to "create" and "move."

However, the biggest improvement I can think of would be change the whole
"thing" to

Procedure for moving mail messages:
1. Create...
2. Move...
3. Move mail messages

I prefer this kind of simple progression to the "flashback" style that you
and your editor have used. ...RM
