To all Technical Communications Professionals:
SIGDOC is a Special Interest Group for DOCumentation - a society of senior
communications professionals. Members are from all technical and scientific
disciplines, those who create documentation for the computing community and
those who use computers to create documentation in many styles and media.
SIGDOC meets the needs of documentation experts with an annual conference and a
quarterly newsletter addressing research, practice, and philosophies in
documentation. SIGDOC also provides a home page on the Internet
(http://www.acm.org/sigs/).
SIGDOC's policy is to offer a uniquely intimate and affordable conference (this
year in Savannah, Georgia, Oct 1 - 4). SIGDOC also sponsors annual awards for
individual and organizational contribution to the field of computer
documentation. SIGDOC membership includes a subscription to the quarterly
newsletter, The Journal of Computer Documentation, while ACM* Associate and
Student Members also receive a subscription to the monthly magazine
Communications of the ACM.
*ACM - The First Society in Computing, is the largest and oldest international
scientific and educational computer society in the industry today.
Possibly the greatest resource for SIGDOC members is the contact with senior
professionals involved with all aspects of documentation. The annual conference
offers papers, sessions, and workshops with new information on developing
paper-based and on-line information.
SIGDOC is a special interest group of the ACM. SIGDOC and ACM memberships also
provide discounts on ACM publications and activities. Proceedings of
conferences, Voting Member Privileges, and membership information can be
obtained from the ACM Member Service Department at (202) 626-0500, FAX (212)
