It could actually be referring to input stamps or translation tables, as
I remember from my years both as a programmer and as a tech writer. Often,
if a software program is to repeatedly place the same data in multiple locations
a pre-defined set of parameters, we would call that "information mapping" so
the user would know not to expect anything explicitly listed in that section
of the documentation.
