Subject:pesky background repagination in WORD-fix From:Nancy McDonald-Kenworthy <McDonald-Kenwort -dot- 5 -at- OSU -dot- EDU> Date:Wed, 15 Nov 1995 01:12:41 -0500
Today's find: I can't remember who-maybe Robert Someone, I apologize for
not remembering your name-but I DO remember how to get rid of the pesky
repagination that Word (6 for Mac, for Windows, but same versions... I use
both ones) does every time I switch back and forth when I take the
paragraph button view on and off. The trick to save eons of time while
waiting for that grinding in your computer to stop:
in NORMAL view: in Tools menu, select Options. Then go to" General" tab:
there you find an on-off switch for "background pagination" This will
stop the ridiculous time-consuming memory building!! What a relief when I
found that!! --Especially when I'm forced to format a huge doc in this
clunky "master document" format.... I must share this good fortune. For
verification, see the official User guide, on page 264. ( PS.. why do the
"powers that be" make such work?? Haven't they seen of some MAJOR layout
apps??--today's gripe.) signed, a humble writer
