I thought I would jump in on this thread. I have been creating resumes =
for profit for about six years now. When it comes down to the basics, I =
have noticed that prospective employers only care about one thing - your =
ability to do the job.

I have found employers to be interested in skills more than anything =
else you can place on a resume. When people ask me to help them create a =
resume, we focus on skill sets first. I have never put GPA on anybody's =
resume because there are many other ways to emphasis ability (computer =
knowledge, writing experience, etc.).

I have been a part time college student for almost nine years (I =
graduate in May - sound the trumpets), but I have worked and kept my =
computer skills current. When I quit my job to go back to school, my GPA =
went up a lot. However, I have not put it on any of my updated resumes. =
Again, I want to keep the focus on my skill set rather than my academic =
achievements. This does not mean that what I have done in school is not =
important, but the old bottom line comes back: can I do the job?

Also, your resume is the most important piece of technical writing you =
will ever do.
