Fellow TECHWR-Lers:

I just received the October-December 1995 issue of _Gather/Scatter_, the
quarterly newsletter of the San Diego Supercomputing Center (SDSC). In an
introductory essay on page 1, the author mentions the SDSC's expectation
that by the end of next year, their system(s) will be processing datasets
1 terabyte (TB) in size with archive sizes of 1 petabyte (PB).

Just a reminder, a petabyte if 2^50 bytes: 1,125,899,906,843,000 bytes,
or about 1.126 x 10^15 bytes. That's alotta digits?

Now what's that in bits? ;-)
